Breakouts for Sep 27th: The first pick, GLBL, first featured as a Breakout for August 30th. The stock completed a 3-week consolidation which is perhaps a couple of weeks shorter than a solid base should be. Given this, I have raised the stop price but have maintained the original target price. Technicals remain strong and the ascending triple top breakout from August 4th continues to run but the stock looks primed for an exhaustion run. Watch for resistance at $17.50 dating back to 2001. The solid Investors Business Daily ranking is a plus however. The second pick, BGC, has featured numerous times as a Breakout play, the first was for July 22nd 2004. Cramer was 'bullish' on the stock a couple of weeks ago but other than this pump there was little in the way of PR to bring today's breakout. The real action won't hit the stock until $17.25 is breached so Monday's mini-breakout is an opportunity to get in ahead of the crowd. Some decent buying last week points to demand. Technically there is still some work to do - especially with respect to the bearish divergences in the MACD and on-balance-volume. A move to $17.50 will trigger a double top breakout on the point-n-figure chart. The third pick is, OPTN, has been stuck in a tight trading range for the last 6-months but has a more respectable weekly chart. The company had announced two acquisitions late last week; the first of its largest franchise in Las Vegas, and the second of Northwetern Memorial's Home Infusion business. Technically, the bearish divergence in the MACD was breached by Monday's close. Watch for a similar break in slow stochastics and a move to new near term highs in on-balance-volume. A move to $15.00 will trigger a triple top breakout on the point-n-figure chart and should bring about a major run given the prior tight action of recent months. GTC buy orders down to $14.11 may be good enough for fills here.
