Breakouts for Oct 4th: The first pick, AIZ, introduced a new health insurance plan in Montana to target those who are currently uninsured, following the introduction of the same product to Connecticut last week. The stock featured as a breakout for June 2nd and January 24th but the real fun is likely to start on a break of $38.70 which will leave the stock with no overhead resistance. A breakout in on-balance-volume is supported by a sharply improving slow stochastic and rising MACD, although the latter indicator remains below a bearish divergence dating back to June. I am looking for a move to psychological $50 resistance. The second pick, PQUE, looks primed for an exponential exhaustion run. Watch how it moves past $11.17 as it could make a substantial one-day gain from here. The company had reported its Gulf Coast facilities had escaped the worst of Hurricane Rita damage. The point-n-figure chart still shows a double top breakout from August 10th with a price target of $15.25. The stock featured here as a breakout for August 9th and again for September 20th. The previously underperforming MACD has now soared along with on-balance-volume. Slow stochastics are also firmly overbought negating some of the weakness from September 20th. I have not changed my price target, even if this does go parabolic you always need a target to aim for. The third pick, SLXP, ended Monday at an ideal pivot buy price. The company closed the $190m acquisition of InKine Pharmaceuticals. The stock had earlier featured as a breakout for August 10th. I have not changed the original price target but I have raised the stop price to reflect recent gains. We have a clear breakout in on-balance-volume but the MACD trigger line continues to struggle under what is now a four-and-a-half month bearish divergence. The stock still rides a triple top breakout from July 7th and holds a price target of $28.00.
