Breakouts for Oct 20th: The first pick, RAE, first featured as a breakout play on Sep 7th. Current holders should move their stops to the new level. Earnings are set for Oct 25th, so we are likely looking at a buy-the-rumor-sell-the-news situation. It might be prudent to take partial profits just prior to its release to protect against disappointment. The stock still displays good technical strength; the MACD trigger line remains over the bullish zero line and on balance volume is at new highs. The second pick, BFLY, is working its way through a new base. There has only been an odd spattering of PR news so recent buying volume looks like low key accumulation. The stock broke two resistance levels today, although in the short term it is likely to retest the downward slopping line which should mean a move back to the low $2.00s and therefore a good place for GTC buy orders. Technical strength is improving, although the MACD trigger line remains below resistance. The third pick, GEMS, is also working its way through its base. It has a similar technical picture to BFLY with the MACD trigger line below resistance, although on-balance-volume has breached a 6-month resistance trendline. The company did announce a Russian distribution agreement in the morning, which gave the impetus for today's move. Still plenty of work to do as its prior technical picture was bearish (as marked by the red hashed vertical line). GTC orders down to $1.80 look best used in this instance.
